A walk combining the pleasures of the Canal and views of Belvoir Castle
| A couple of miles from Redmile and 4 miles south of Bottesford lies Belvoir, its Castle being the princely seat of the Duke of Rutland. It stands upon a commanding well-wooded eminence and is in Gothic style. |

Our walk along the newly reinforced and surfaced towpath takes us through excellent, peaceful countryside with frequent opportunities to take by-ways into nearby villages and their hostelries. |

And taking the long distance path known as The Viking Way will enable you to venture into rural England, with its noble oaks and agricultural lands whilst maintaining your view of Belvoir Castle. |
Along this route we come to the conjoint Stathern Wood, Plungar Wood and Barkestone Wood in which has been constructed a Beacon monument to commemorate the use of the site as an "Early Warning System" as detailed on its plaque![]() |
And enjoy from this prominent position the views towards Plungar, Redmile and beyond over the famous Vale |
