KAPELLE DAY 2000

by Eric Young (Travel Organiser) - August 2000

Four Members of Melton & District Twinning Association travelled to Holland for Kapelle Day, the 20th Anniversary of this event.
We went via Harwich to Hoek van Holland (the well-known terminus for ferry services) on board Stena H.S.S. The crossing was smooth, but the road traffic was a problem on the outward journey - we arrived at our hosts an hour later than expected. Next time we will probably travel on Le Shuttle.
Our time (24th to 28th August) joining in the festivities with our hosts was most enjoyable and we were able to take a selection of photographs (reproduced below in album form) to tempt YOU to enjoy next year's celebrations perhaps!

The similarity between our two towns can readily be seen from the following pictures

And this,
here displayed in Kapelle,
you've seen often in Melton!
